The Frozen Garden of Eden

Buried into one of the arctic islands of Svalbard, midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole, are over half a million varieties of crop seeds. “[The region] is remote, severe and inhabited by polar bears,” reports the Global Crop Diversity Trust.

The seeds, stored in an underground vault, are protected not just by the harsh environment but by four blast-proof doors and two airlocks. Known as the “Doomsday Vault,” “Noah’s Ark” and “The Frozen Garden of Eden,” it is designed to survive earthquakes, tsunamis and even a nuclear attack.

If some global disaster takes place and wipes out our agriculture, these seeds will still be safe.

The Doomsday Vault – which cost the Norwegian government (people) $10 million to build — has become the “gold standard” for seed storage. But apparently there are over 1,500 less impressive seed banks across the globe.

This shows that the elite and the government are well aware of the impending threats to our food supply.

But I very much doubt that you or I will be receiving any of those seeds in case of a disaster.

That’s why I think every family should own their own Survival Seed Bank. It’s such a small investment. Bury it and know that if the worst comes to pass, you can dig up the canister and start planting your own Garden of Eden.
